THE DAY AFTER ON PEARL HARBOR

Unless you were there! The panic may have been in their throats but their minds were searching for ways to survive.

The day after the bombing on Pearl Harbor people were still in shock.  People were scared. America had been attacked…what next?

Even though Roosevelt had not made the speech yet and congress had not declared it most knew that America was now at war. At that particular time, we were not a military world power but American knowhow, determination and ingenuity took over. People started pulling together, rationing began, our loved ones were leaving to engage the enemy. The powers of business rallied for our country and turned their manufacturing facilities into making clothes for our soldiers, tanks, planes, ammunition, guns, bombs. Whatever was needed the companies came through. The employees of these companies worked like their lives depended on it…and it did, so did their loved ones lives who were fighting over seas.

After seeing the documentaries on TV this week, and hearing the few veterans who are still living who fought in this war tell their remembrances I realized the importance again of always being prepared to defend our country while seeking to help bring about peace and finding solutions when possible. God bless America! God bless our people and help us  come together as one nation.

  1. Thanks for your comment. Both times we were attacked on our soil. We should never forget the price our men and women and children have paid.

  2. I can honestly say I’ve never pondered the day after Pearl Harbor but your description made everything seem to real to me. Like 9/11 I pray we never forget the brave men who died for our freedom during World War II
