Did we want it?

Hand Holding WishboneRecently while reading I came across something Robert Frost said. I found it funny at first, but I began thinking about the words and it lost its funny flavor. He said, ” A person will sometimes devote all his life to the development of one part of his body-the wishbone.”

When you think about that, it is very sad. For most of us we do wish for things daily. We wish our jobs were easier, or different. We wish the kids would clean up their rooms, but let’s face it, this kind of wishing is normal and I don’t think this is what Frost was referring to.

There are times in our lives we do spend it wishing-the thing is, we don’t use elbow grease to bring it about.  So maybe we really didn’t want it after all.

  1. Thank you Stephanie, I am so glad you became a published author. What is the name of your book? When was it released?

  2. This is so true. I know personally I wished for years to be a published author. It wasn’t until my now editor/cover designer pushed me that I actually made a wish come true. So many times we say ‘I wish I was…’ and never do anything to make it a reality. Great, thought provoking post 🙂
