Can I leave you with this?

aprilApril is National Poetry Month. For those who don’t care for poetry I think it is only because they haven’t read one that touched a heart string. Perhaps they think back to their school years when we were required to read certain poets–and unfortunately those did not knock on the heart and ask to come in.

Now that I am older, I do enjoy some poetry, especially when it is rainning. There is something comforting about curling up with a book of poetry and cup of tea that relaxes me all the way down to my toes. After reading for about an hour, I am totally calm and serene.

It’s good for us to find things in our lives that we can read that draw out all the cares of the week and give us back the peacefulness we so yearn for. Especially in our hurried lives of today.

So I leave you with this:

When you find yourself uptight,
would it not be a true delight,
to curl yourself up in your chair,
to grab your tea and then prepare,
to read the words that often flow,
rivers of peace on a higher plateau.
