Will you throw it back?

<img src="https://lmswords.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/older-happy-????????????????Does it seem like most people are just going through the motions of life as opposed to actually enjoying what they are doing?

Yesterday in the grocery store, there were two old women shopping. One had a great smile on her face the other-well if her frown were any bigger you would not have been able to see her eyes. One stood taller and straighter while the other one was hunched over, shoulders rounded and droopy. The one standing taller, shoulders pulled back was neatly dressed and looked fresh the other looked thrown together and sloppy.

I could not help but notice the two as they walked down the aisles together doing their shopping. Yes, I admit, I was curious so I pulled up behind them with my cart, thanked them, when they offered to let me go around them, but declined. I needed to take my time and look at the labels. I really did need to look at the labels.

Okay, I was nosy! I wanted to hear what kind of words came out of their mouths, were they positive talking women or negative. Obviously one looked full of life and the other looked like life was drained out of her.

Every now and then, I would get bits and pieces of conversation. The pulled together one was cheerful, positve and light hearted. The other was the exact opposite.

You wonder why two women who are so seemingly different could be such good friends. I also wondered what had occurred in both of their lives that made them the way they were. Of course I will never know…but I can surmise one decided to not let life dictate it’s terms and decided to choose the way she lived it while the other–well the other may have not had the energy to fight through what life was throwing.

Senior woman gardeningLike I said, I’ll never know. But it did give me food for thought. It also gave me a new mantra–When life throws it…throw it back!
