Where Are They Going?

road Lately I have begun to wonder where people are going. Looking around I see so many faces that look so unhappy. Some of these faces are on people who are going very fast…it is evident they are in a hurry to get where they are going. Others with this face are going about as slow as you can walk, if any slower, they would be standing still. Keep in mind, they all have the same expression on their face–one of sadness.

So what am I wondering? Well, I am wondering if where they are going is making them that sad. I just want to pull them aside and tell them they do have a choice. They can turn around and choose another direction. As long as they are breathing they have options. Yet sometimes people just get stuck and before they realize it, they are at the end of that road. Turning around isn’t an option.

This would make a good plot for a story if it weren’t real life. The thing is, these people really do have choices. They can stop going in the direction they’re headed–yes they can; it might be hard on them and cause some inconveniences, but that would only be for a while, once they got on the right road, things would eventually fall into place and the sad face would be changed into one with a smile.

Life is a harsh taskmaster if we are not doing what we were created to do using the gifts we were given.

So are you going in the right direction?

  1. Great post. As a writer I love to ‘people watch’. Sometimes it inspires a story. It’s so true in today’s lifestyles, people just keep going down the road that makes them unhappy when they have the choice to stop and turn around or take the next turn.

You are so write. It is difficult sometimes to watch people continue going down the wrong road when they would be so happy if they would turn around and go the other direction.

So glad you are a writer. People watching is an excellent way to find lot’s of characters for our stories as well as create stories. Thanks for your comments.
