Today being Friday reminds us we need to finish up work from the week and tie up loose ends. If we do, our weekend can be one of play and rest. I think sometimes adults forget that it’s important to play.

uyghur_kids_playing.jpgRemember as a child how all week you went to school, came home , got to play a little while and then you had to sit down and do your homework? Saturday would come and the whole day was spent playing. We pretended to be our latest comic book hero or we played cowboys and indians. We rode our bikes, played jump rope, hop scotch, hide-n-seek. We played hard, running back and forth with friends and siblings. So much fun, we were exhilarated and hated for the day to end. It filled us with wonderment, excitement, happiness and that beautiful feeling of freedom.

Sundays would come and the family would go to church and sunday school together and be refreshed in our hearts, souls and minds. Afternoons would be spent with our families visiting and resting.

That is what we need to do now. Get ready for the weekend and regain that feeling of wonderment, adventure and freedom.

  1. Gary, I too am going to do that. I forget myself to stop and just play and rest.
